Good to know
mg and units, explained
How many units is 1 mg?
It depends on the concentration. At 5 mg/mL, 1 mg = 0.2 mL = 20 units. At 2.5 mg/mL, 1 mg = 0.4 mL = 40 units. Units = (mg ÷ concentration in mg/mL) × 100.
Why does the same dose need different units?
Units measure liquid volume. Adding more water spreads the same mg across more liquid, so each dose takes more units.
Does this work for any U-100 syringe?
Yes. On every U-100 syringe 100 units = 1 mL; only the barrel size and the spacing of the marks differ.
